McQ - Alexander McQueen’s second line

WOMEN’S FASHION - British Alexander McQueen was a real fashion visionary. He was known about his technical clothes making skills and tailoring. His shows were always remarkably theatrical and his sharp style brought him much media attention and acclaim.

McQueen completed a masters degree in fashion design at the prestigious Central St. Martins College. He won the ‘British Designer of the Year Award’ in 1996, 1997 and in 2001. In 1997 he was employed by couture house Givenchy.  In 2000 Gucci purchased a controlling interest in the ‘McQueen’ line. This move ended McQueen’s tumultuous relationship with Givenchy and gave him a greater creative license.

In 2006 he founded the second line called McQ. It is full of rock, punk and street edge, but prices are more affordable compared to the main line.
